Rashtriya Swabhiman Projects : Swabhiman Sports

Swabhiman Sports were started to promote sports talent primarily from rural India by giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent in an organised event on a national level.

Our first event was initiated by the former Chief Minister of Delhi, Dr. Sahib Singh Verma and was organised by Indraprastha Sports Excellence Trust that went on for 6 days from 27th Sep.-2nd Oct 2003 at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Delhi. More than 10,000 players from 15 different games participated. The event witnessed an approximately 50,000 spectators, and more than 200 Olympics players and Arjuna awardees were present to grace the occasion.

This festival was inaugurated by former union minister Shri Murli Manohar Joshi along with 10 other union ministers in the presence of former sports minister Shri Vikram Verma.

The games were concluded by the former Vice-President of India Hon'ble Sh. Bhairon Singh Shekhwat who distributed the prizes, cash and certificates, along with other sports personalities who have represented India.

The second Swabhiman Sports festival was inaugurated by union minister for sports Shri Sunil Dutt. Over the four days, from 26th - 30th November2004, the National Stadium and the Chattrasal Stadium witnessed more than 8,000 players and around 30,000 spectators.

Both the festivals covered LIVE by the national sports channel and media to motivate the players and increase participation. To motivate athletes monetarily, Rashtriya Swabhiman presents cash prizes and certificates.

Since 2005, the festival is organised at the Ganga International School, Hiran Kudna, New Delhi. It receives the participation from the players with similar zeal in a total of 15 sports events.
