The Kargil war was not only an epic win for India, but it placed India on the world map in terms of its military power. And yet, even though claiming our own land back from Pakistan made us stand proud with our heads held high for the world; turning within, our heads did bow in respect for the selfless sacrifice by our lost heroes.
Even though no amount of money could ever compensate the determination, will, valour, gallantry and heroism shown by these men; the least we could do was to honour their families without having them go through the rigorous and elaborate government compensation process.
That is when Rashtriya Swabhiman came forward with an estimated figure of Rs Two Crore to help around 250 families across the country, recognising the immediate need and stress they were already going through.
Rashtriya Swabhiman has made a constant effort to not only help develop a sense of dignity in India’s people, but has also been a constant supporter and aficionado to stand with those who gave up their lives for the pride of the nation.
