Rashtriya Swabhiman Projects : Jan Shikshan Sansthan

Jan Shikshan Sansthan, established at Indraprastha on 1st April 2003, operates under the flagship of Gramin Swabhiman with the main focus to offer need based specialised people’s education to the socially, economically and educationally deprived sections of the society. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan scheme is governed under guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Adult Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

We realised the need to educate people in way that would result in an immediate economic and social reform in their lives through their personal talents; the by-product was obvious – self respect. The school focuses on need based specialised study for the people who have less or no former education, to achieve higher returns from vocational pursuits instead of emphasising on the curriculum based study.

The school aims to turn the non performing liabilities in the society into creative assets, capable of earning a livelihood, independent of any circumstantial drawbacks.

The school offers an average of 55 courses, every year, that vary from the culture based works for women like dress designing, beauty culture, health care to nurturing artistic talents like candle making, painting to technical endeavours like auto repair and masonry works specialised for men.

The success of this school can be estimated by a 900% increase in the registration in the last 7 years, with an enrolment of a total of 3291 people in the year 2009-2010.
